Inseam Snap Hack

Hi everyone! So lately, I've been obsessed with making Lydia a romper pattern called the Alley Cat Romper. The pattern is from Lil Luxe Collection and when I say obsessed, I mean she has a different one to wear every day of the week, for 2 weeks... It's just the sweetest pattern. But, to change Lydia's diaper while wearing the romper, meant that she had to get totally undressed. With winter quick approaching (ok, more like coming in at a snail's pace), I had to try and hack the pattern to include a snap inseam.
First, let's just admire how freaking cute she is in that romper!!!! Sweetest thing ever!
Ok, now for the hack.
1. Sew up the romper according to pattern directions all the way up to sewing the inseam. Don't do that part! You need to cut two 2 inch by length of inseam piece of fabric. Iron on some stabilizer to the wrong side of the fabric. I used Pellon SF101 and it worked beautifully. This will give your snap placket some stability and makes it less likely that your snaps might rip through the fabric!
2. Fold the snap placket wrong sides together so the two long sides are touching. You should have a piece of fabric 1 inch by length of inseam now. Serge raw edges together along the inseam. I choose to topstitch the seam allowance here to the romper.
3. Repeat with other leg.
4. Overlap the snap placket so that the front lies on top of the back. Pin together at the ankles.
5. Attach the cuff as indicated in the directions. I did add 1 inch to the width of the cuff to accommodate the extra width from the snap placket.
6. Add snaps.

Super simple! Now, her daddy won't complain about the rompers not having snaps, and she won't be cold getting her diaper changed. Win, Win.
